[Sigia-l] Amazon reviews: sort flexibility: what happened?

Hi,
Does anyone know what happened over at Amazon that led them to reduce functionality/flexibility in Reader Reviews?
It's always been possible to sort reviews by Highest Rated, Lowest Rated, Most Helpful, Least Helpful, Newest, Oldest, etc.
User now appears to be forced to choose between: (1) Newest or (2) Most Helpful reviews...and only 10 reviews are displayed per screen.
Any idea what would lead them to make this shift? any sense of benefits to Amazon in doing so, other than burying negative reviews, which might lead to reduced sales? or reducing time users spend browsing reviews prior to making purchases?
Thanks for thoughts!
