As usual, I'll leave it to Jakob then to discover the obvious: this has
*always* been possible, absolutely nothing new here with Web 2.0

That was not the main point I was making, related to Jakob's comments.

Yes, its been possible since forms existed of course. But the fact is,
its suddenly huge hype and lots of sites neglect the basics because
they are focussing on cramming in as many social features as they can.
