JOB: User Experience Designer (Perm or Contract) – Adapt Technologies, Inc. – Pasadena, CA
Do you love what you do?
We need two full-time mid to senior-level User Experience Designers to join our fun, dynamic and dedicated team. The positions report to the Director of User Experience and are located in Pasadena, CA (near Old Town). Occasional telecommuting is ok, and no travel is required.
We offer a great culture (including normal hours, free lunches, snacks and lattes, plus a casual anti-dress code.) It’s an agile, startup environment, so multitasking is a given and interacting with team members across multiple disciplines and on many levels is a daily reality.
We are a software development company (http://www.adapt.com) creating practical, self-service search engine campaign management solutions for marketers. Our team members come from leading universities and Internet companies including Caltech, Google, Yahoo! Search Marketing, Disney and Amazon.com. The company was founded in December 2004 and is venture-funded by Mohr, Davidow Ventures and Emergence Capital Partners.
The Job encompasses a combo of interaction, information and visual design, with a dash of information architecture and usability thrown in for good measure. Major deliverables may include annotated wireframes, use cases, process flows (altogether totaling about 70% of the time) and comps (another 20%), plus QA (10%).
Must Haves
*Solid background with web technologies including an understanding of technical systems and architecture
*Excellent visual/ verbal communicator with a demonstrated creative vision for organizing interactive systems
*Comfortable with standard toolkit programs such as Visio, DreamWeaver, Photoshop, etc.
*Extremely detail-oriented, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
*Portfolio presentation is expected, to include URLs of websites or samples of user interface design that reflect candidate’s work as well as documentation that led to the site, including wireframes, site maps, navigation flows, interaction design specs, comps, etc.
Nice to Haves
*Understanding of Search Engine Marketing and Optimization (SEM/ SEO)
*Experience in media software applications such as Flash or Flex or Hands-on experience with web development (hand-coded HTML, with the ability to ramp-up quickly in DreamWeaver, CSS, JavaScript, etc.)
*Professionally active (ongoing professional reading, association memberships, listserv participation and/ or conference attendance) in groups such as IAI, ASIST (SIG-IA), ACM (SIG-CHI), IXDG, AIGA, etc.
If this sounds like a great fit, we want to meet you!
