I would say that it depends on the people in it. I didn't see the
research approach mixing up the groups, as I can see that seriously
wrecking the "shocking revelation" of the research; if there is one
guy who's really good at these things (brainstorming is a skill, you
know :) and four morons, the obviously the mean will be lower than
individual results tested against it.
Again, it only points to "don't trust blindly in anything except not
trusting blindly in anything." And get some good folks in your teams,
someone who knows how to facilitate both teamwork and brainstorming.
It's all about the individuals in teams, never only about teams.
You would think all this be common knowledge, but it surprises me how
so many people switch their brains off in the fear of thinking outside
the box. *grumble*
