Bias: My antipathy towards non-algorithmic metadata generation is well
established: real homo sapiens don't tag. :-)
One emerging area that's has been hard for auto-metadata generation and
parsing is video. DARPA gave us the internet and now the security industry
may give us auto-metadata for video:

Yes, there are whole sorts of issues for *this* application and it's not
fully-baked, but think of all the possibilities implied therein.
