So true, but that begs the question "what percentage of commercial
software developers understand and/or start with design?" Me thinks
that percentage is quite small. In my personal opinion even the
beloved Apple forgets about the user until the end of the project and
then makes a weak half-ditch effort to slap a pretty face on it. Case
in point: Spotlight - arguably the most brilliant technical solution
to the problem of finding things n your hard drive, with an interface
that makes it completely unusable. Don't get me started with
Microsoft, Adobe or any of the statistical package manufactures.

So, that was entirely too long a rant on a subject that's a tangency
to the topic at hand, apologies.
