Here in the UK, where urbanites are routinely and often quite intimately
filmed every day of their lives, there has been some concern (and even
conspiracy theory) about how fast the police managed to find rather a
lot of film of the London bombing suspects from CCTV cameras around the
capital at various points in time. The sheer volume of raw footage to
sift through must have been huge. I was told by somebody who claims to
know about these things that their search was narrowed significantly by
automated video tagging.
But this isn't to say that there must have been some very bored Bobbies
looking at video playbacks for quite a while.
