Truthfully, I never owned a Newton :) But I do remember it, and as to
the other thing, well....

To paraphrase Godin once again: look at South Park. 20% of female test
audience members hated it so much that they cried. Statistically it was
a bad move, yet it was and is a commercial success. Consumers remember
the amazing and the remarkable, and everything else is just filler.
Google needs to keep in mind that Altavista was great until Yahoo! got
their act together. Yahoo! was great until Google emerged. Can you see a
pattern here? :) Product creation should be done on the basis of
marketing to the key early adopters. Build the truly amazing and they
will come.
