Forgive me for respectfully disagreeing with all of you.

My own line of reasoning goes like this:

A lazy, unskilled person will write a lousy 300-page report.

A lazy, unskilled person will write lousy bullets.

The problem isn't powerpoint, paper, or the long-form expository format.

The problem is that people often aren't willing to spend the time to
express themselves carefully and accurately, or to acquire the skills
and discipline that allow them to do so.

Distillation is hard... and important. However, I think it is a stretch
to say that if I have bullets I necessarily have gone through the mental
effort of distillation. I have suffered through many PowerPoint
presentations that were anything but distilled, or well thought out. I
think this goes back to the original complaints that started the thread:
The problem isn't inherently with
*PowerPoint* but with those who use it as a crutch and think pretty
slides will make up for a lack of forethought. Some feel that the
*presentation* trumps the message. It does not! (at least not for
long).
