one requires the audience to draw inferences, make logical leaps, embellish
with their own knowledge/gutfeel/wisdom etc.

the other ... has everything complicated explained, has background
information to illuminate, acronyms expanded, etc etc. It's only
intellectual demand is that of patience.

It can't be argued that the 100-page report is dense and void of explanatory
support while at the same time arguing that that report could then be
further condensed to bullet points.
