Hooray for Jesse! Despite "common" sense, some companies' web teams operate
in a climate where there are organizational boundaries. The individual can
become an artifact of the process, and competencies are either assumed if
needed for a position or suppressed if not. Staffing a web team around
competencies rather than by bodycount is contrary to the cookiecutter
nature of employment practices at large organizations.

A simple diagram that expresses those competencies and their relationships can help companies staff their teams more effectively and flexibly, as well
 as better define personal development plans for team members.
