On the LIS research front:
Major information architecture-related information science gov't grant
sources currently fall primarily under the rubric of "digital libraries"
... they are NSF(.gov) and IMLS(.org), though there are a myriad of other
granting agencies, as well. [None of them, however, are amenable to
intuited research reports documenting how their (our) monies are spent...]
On the LIS professional naming/renaming front:
"Special Libraries Association Name to Remain - Members Affirm Commitment
to Proud Tradition"
http://www.sla.org/content/memberservice/communication/pr/pressrelease/2317c.cfm
Perhaps all IA is missing is a "proud tradition" ... ;-)
