I'm at first apt to agree, but then I wonder ... just because the site is
primarily information based does that mean access will be primarily in line
with the overall structure of that information? (and thus the site gets
architectured to support that information structure)

Is our access to information driven by the mental models we have of that
information? I know I get sick of constantly popping to the home page and
then drilling down to different areas. The occasional opportunistic link
here and there connecting sibling content is helpful, but too static. They
work when they are few in number (ie. not overwhelming), yet also fail for
that reason.
