RE: SIGIA-L: friday topic: whodunit with an IA plot?

I've always loved Nabokov's "Pale Fire", a sort of novel consisting of a
20 page narrative poem followed by a 200+ page section of
footnotes/annotations. Through reading the carefully-crafted footnotes
you gradually gain insight into the outrageous character of the footnote
writer. The footnotes are designed to unfurl the plot in a deliberate
way, but it is all tied in to the original text quite closely. It's not
truly hypertext - you're still supposed to read the footnotes in order -
but I think the linearity makes it that much better. A truly wonderful
read, maybe I'll read it for a third time now that I've thought of it.
