I'm running the same setup and haven't had any more trouble than one
would expect with a Windows app. However, I'm pretty much only using
my visvocab stencils, so I'm probably not pushing Visio to its limits.
As for Mac-native software, I know there are many fans of
ConceptDraw, but when I last looked at it six months ago, it was
still a bit too unstable for regular use. Maybe that's changed since
then. OmniGraffle and Glyphix both hold the promise of producing more
polished (Illustrator-level) output than the other apps out there,
but I haven't had a chance to play with either much yet.
Still my favorite diagramming tool is the late, lamented Claris
Impact. Simple to learn, very flexible, and even cross-platform. With
one more rev it could have been the killer app for IAs. If you can
find a copy (I got mine on eBay for about five bucks) it's definitely
worth checking out.
