Ahh, good question. Tim didn't mean that alphabetized lists were a
bad idea. Moving beyond doesn't mean "drop them."
What he was getting at (I think, this is my interpretation and
memory of the conversation) is that our traditional techniques are
great. BUT, let's not think that we've already figured out all the
best ways to display and navigate massive electronic information
systems.
Nothing wrong with page numbers and alphabetized lists. But hey,
there was nothing wrong with radio, telephones, television, and
books either, and gee, isn't this Internet thing great?
