SIGIA-L: RE: Information Anthropology? (was RE: The state of the profession)

This is exactly my take on where Interaction Design is. If we take a small
piece of Contextual Design mix it w/ the stuff from HCI and IA, we basically
end up w/ Experience Design, which brings us to Nathan's book, which is
basically describing a new cultural paradigm in thinking about designing for
interactive media of any kind.

If we design experiences, and we know that any experience is translated
through our cultural filters, then yes, we are Applied Anthropologists.

I have been really big on using ethnographic analysis as part of my design
methodology, along w/ interviews and other cultural information gathering
techniques.

Anyway, I really feel that anthropology has a ton to offer the experience
design community.
