FYI, there's a usability testing listserv that might get you more
response. (After all, *we're* just a bunch of mushy, soft-science
content people ;)

The UTEST-L FAQ, including how to $ub$cribe, are attached below.

Best,
mf

********************************************************************* A UTEST Help FAQ

UTEST COMMANDS

To issue a UTEST command, address a message to LISTSERV_at_CLEMSON.EDU. Then type the appropriate text in both the subject line and the first line of the message. Before sending your message, double check to verify that your message is addressed to LISTSERV and *not* to the UTEST list. Also, if you have more than one email address, be sure to issue your commands from the account you used to subscribe to the UTEST list.

UNSUBSCRIBE [How do I leave the UTEST list?] To remove your ID from UTEST, type:

SIGNOFF UTEST-L

Note: This will not work if your e-mail address has changed since first subscribing. Also, note that you do *not* need to type your name in this command.

SUBSCRIBE [How do I join the UTEST list?] To subscribe to UTEST, contact the list owner, Dr. Tharon Howard, at THARON_at_CLEMSON.EDU. Note that UTEST is a closed, private list, so please do not publish information about subscribing to the list without permission from the listowner and/or the UTEST Advisory Council. Information about how to subscribe to UTEST should be passed on only in person to people who you know are usability testing practitioners: please don't give out this information to any groups.

DIGEST [How can I receive all my UTEST mail at once?] To have UTEST postings compiled into a digest and sent periodically, type:

SET UTEST-L DIGEST

UNDIGEST [How do I turn off digesting?] To disable the DIGEST command and resume receiving postings individually, type:

SET UTEST-L NODIGEST

ARCHIVES [How do I get copies of old messages?] UTEST is not and should not be archived. In order to protect subscribers' messages from various types of abuse and to encourage discussion, members of the UTEST community decided not to archive messages. If you keep copies of UTEST messages for personal use, see http://hubcap.clemson.edu/~tharon/utest/policies.html for limitations on how you may use those messages.

REVIEW [How do I see who is on the UTEST list?] In order to protect UTEST subscribers from "spammers" and other inappropriate uses of their addresses, all addresses on the UTEST list are automatically concealed. It isn't, therefore, possible to view the entire subscription list. However, those subscribers who want to make their addresses available may be found at http://hubcap.clemson.edu/~tharon/utest/people.html.

POSTPONE [How do I temporarily turn off my UTEST mail?] To temporarily turn UTEST's postings off, type:

SET UTEST-L NOMAIL

Note: UTEST's messages are not archived, so you will not be able to obtain any messages you miss while your mail is set to NOMAIL.

RESUME [How do I turn my mail back on after postponing it?] To resume receiving UTEST postings after issuing a NOMAIL command, type:

SET UTEST-L MAIL

QUERY [How can I check my subscription?] To check to see if you are properly subscribed to UTEST and to obtain information on your DIGEST, NOMAIL, or other settings, type:

QUERY UTEST-L

Be sure to issue the QUERY command from the account you used to subscribe to the UTEST list. If your address in your mail header doesn't *exactly* match your subscription address on the list, LISTSERV will reject your messages.

CHANGE ADDRESS [How do I change my email address on the list?] To change the subscribed address on the list, you will need to contact the Listowner directly at tharon_at_clemson.edu. Your old address will have to be manually unsubscribed and your new address subscribed. Please be sure to use the new address you want to have subscribed to the list when you contact the Listowner.

HELP [How can I get more help with LISTSERV?] To get help with LISTSERV commands, type:

HELP

Follow the directions in the mail message you will receive. Note that help specific to the UTEST list is also available at http://hubcap.clemson.edu/~tharon/utest/. You may also download copies of various Listserv manuals from http://www.lsoft.com.
