Folks,
the posts so far has concentrated on press releases at business or corporate sites. I agree with many things said about sloppy writing and impossible-to-read buzzword-laden crap.
But please remember that not all sites and not all press releases are corporate. Having developed the web sites for the Swedish parliaments and government, I must say that there are very high values in keeping old press releases on the site. In fact, I don't think it should ever be possible for a government to erase a press release they have issued.
And these archives are used. The political process can be slow, and when finished, journalists will often want to check what was said at the start.
And even if no-one really used them, I would want them to be there anyway.
The advice so far has been sound, BTW.
My 2 c.
