for what it's worth, i have worked on 2 Interwoven implementations and another CMS evaluation in which they were one of the front-runners.
i feel they began as a glorified, file-system GUI check-in/check-out system, and have been adding features on (like workflow, XML support, etc) at the request of customers. they are primarily suited for handling flat files, though they are working hard on integrations with app servers that deal with personalized content as well.
some of the features they tout have the potential to do more pain than good. for example, their data entry templates do require some training to set up and use...multiple branching for development seems like a good idea, but merging content back together can be very difficult and very manual.
um, what else? the tech folks are really great to work with. this is good as you will probably require their services for customization of the product.
overall, they are solid in what the product was originally created to do (managing a large amount of static data) in the method they choose to do it (page editing mentality), but for newer and more dynamic sites, i think there are other good companies to work with.
