Thanks to all who provided information and feedback. Here's
the scoop for those interested:
QUESTION
Does anyone have information on Library and Information
Science programs in the NYC area? Also, what is the general
opinion on having such a degree?
OPINIONS
All of the respondents (about 15) felt that having the
degree was worth the investment and had directly lead to
finding rewarding projects.
There was the impression that some work environments
didn't take full advantage of the added skill-set (no
surprises here). There was also concern for how the
industry is changing. Might I.A.s find it tougher to
drive information incentives if the client considers
these services to be "luxury" items? This highlights the
importance of finding both the right employer and the
right projects.
Many felt that the changing industry has made now an
ideal time to consider pursuing an advanced degree.
