My dispassionate tuppence is: Visio is absolutely ghastly and perfectly
horrid - resource intensive, it falls over at the slightest provocation. Its
clumsy style (designed to support people who can't draw) is full of
non-standard windows interactions, which has results in a running commentary
of four letter words whilst you click and drag. And it lacks an outline view
(and therefore the ability switch between that and the diagram view).
Inspiration is a bit underdeveloped, and some of it's interaction is a tad
odd, but is basically a more comfortable tool to use. Visio is so blueprint
Engineering in focus, not a creative tool. If you need a more powerful
drawing tool, go up to a full vector programme, to Adobe Illustrator or
Corel Draw or similar.
