You picked a challenge! Some things to consider:
First thing is the OS, you will need to set up Chinese server, browser for design
and testing.
Which Chinese are you working with?
Work with professional translation agency and specify the type of site and thus
specialty of the translators: ie, medical, legal, technical, cultural. They will
have to be working in the same OS of course.
Have the site reviewed by native speakers ( a different group than those who
translated).
Build ample time into your schedule for language-based revisions. Be sure to
version carefully for maintenance purposes.
Keep code separate from content for the above reason and because its good practice
for scaleabilty into other languages.
