Greetings and salutations.

Help. I'm interested in joining a professional IA organization. Since no such organization exists in this part of the globe, I've limited my choices to either ASIST or ACM. I'm interested in knowing the advantages (and, I might get shot for this, disadvantages, if any) of joining either org. Or do you know of any other IA org worth joining? I'm interested in getting access to group reports and published IA journals, and quite possibly, joining a workshop or seminar when my schedule and wallet permit.
