Information Architect
Snickelways Interactive (www.snickelways.com), a pioneer in e-commerce
solutions, has an immediate opening for a gifted Information Architect.
In this challenging, creative role you will be developing sophisticated site
structures and clever navigational solutions, employing the latest dynamic
technologies and methods.
Information Architects, as part of the project team, are integrally involved
from the inception of a project. Initially, they attend the discovery
session with the client and document planned site features. They are
subsequently responsible for the iterative development and charting of the
structure and navigation of a site, at increasing levels of detail. IA
deliverables include infoboards, site maps, use cases, navigation flowcharts
and storyboards, all of which are designed to clarify and support project
goals and client business rules and requirements.
It is critical that Information Architects demonstrate a strong, creative
thought process incorporating a broad-based view, yet be extremely oriented
to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly
the ability to interact productively with clients and team members, are
essential. A background in information science, human-computer interaction
or interface design would be especially useful. Demonstrated skill in the
design and documentation of site structure and navigation is required, and
mastery of Visio is a distinct advantage. Additionally, as a critical
element of the job responsibilities, IAs must keep current on pertinent web
technologies and navigational design trends.
Candidates must have at least one year of professional IA experience,
excellent references, and be able to demonstrate professional competencies
through a portfolio of past work (suitably redacted where necessary). The
salary range for this position is $60,000 to $75,000.
