Ah, the relationship of everything. That is why some of us are here with
marketing degrees. We ended up here because we were already bought into
"The End of Marketing as We Know It" (bought the book, interesting, but
mostly a yawn for those of us who already believed that the practitioners
in the market were wrong...but is definitely helpful to understand what
the goal of those "teasers" should be when they're served up via
personalization). Now we're aligning ourselves to customer experience.
Some customer experience individuals want to focus strictly on the web;
others of us recognize that the Internet is only one channel and that
customer experience is about what happens in all of the channels. We have
to work to carefully balance the relationship between buyers and sellers,
making sure that they both can optimize the valuable time they invest in
one another.
Thank goodness that the Internet showed up to help catapult the potential
of these relationships.
