Director, Information Architecture
Job Summary:
The Information Architecture Director provides high-level guidance and
support to Senior Information Architects and Information Architects working
on multiple projects, while contributing to the overall direction and scope
of large projects. In addition to these delivery-focused responsibilities,
the Information Architecture Director acts as a discipline representative to
both clients as well as internal audiences. The Information Architecture
Director is expected to contribute to the ongoing development of Sapient's
Information Architecture methodology and tools, and will be expected to
communicate those new developments through training, documentation, and
presentation. The Information Architecture Director reports directly to the
Creative Director, Information Architecture
Objectives:
Contribute to the high-level strategic direction, vision and scope of
multiple projects.
Guide the Senior Information Architects to define high-level site
functionality, navigation, interaction, site architecture scheme and data
flow.
Understand and document existing client business processes and rules while
translating strategies into functional design.
Understand and document relationships and dependencies among client Internet
properties.
Work with Designers, Technologists, and User Researchers to ensure the
delivery of highest quality, leading-edge solutions for clients.
Provide input and direction for User Research and Usability test plans and
strategies.
Analyze user tasks and develop task models and usage scenarios.
Create and document ideas and solutions through various types of
deliverables.
Plan and facilitate Information Architecture focused client work sessions.
Direct creation of presentation materials.
Provide input for user research and usability test plans.
Play a major role in the growth and strategic direction of the IA discipline
as a whole.
Manage and direct Information Architects and Senior Information Architects
across multiple projects.
Participate in resource allocation and hiring processes.
Hire and direct the work of outside consultants and vendors as appropriate.
Requirements:
Fluency in the principles of Information Architecture, Usability, and UI/Web
design.
Solid Web development experience.
Superb written and oral presentation skills.
Proven team and project management experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Word and Excel; Adobe Illustrator, and
Photoshop; Quark Express and HTML page creation tools.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver quality work on time
and on budget
3-4 years Information Architecture experience for the Web, including
e-commerce or highly functional Web-based applications.
Excellent client management and presentation skills.
