this smells like the beginning of war...

in any case, as an IA, I'd say yes I don't mind anyone's comments, including
the project manager or the IT guy. I thrive on comments, because they force
me to make my architecture work harder. I may ignore them if they are
clearly from an unusual and irrelevant bias.

I have had the pleasure on my last two projects of working very
collaboratively on the IA and graphic design with a designer. During IA, I
did the bulk, and he commented freely and came up with a lot of solutions,
during graphic design he did the work and I commented freely and offered up
solutions. Because he was part of architecture, he fully understood what I
was trying to accomplish, and his design was the realization of that work.

We keep each other honest. And we had a successful design: by successful I
mean easy to use for the user and sensibly ordered and he meant beautiful as
well as usable.
