SIGIA-L: Web Site Statistics

I know there are a number of you who probably already know this
fact...this is intended for those who don't, because it is so valuable.
[I'm working with an intern right now so I'm suddenly remembering all of
the "key facts" that need to be transferred.]
In Netscape (don't hold me to a version), there is a button on the right
side of the URL entry field labeled "What's Related". This button is
particularly helpful for site evaluation. Had I known about it before one
particular project had been started, we would not have underestimated the
effort by half (and therefore underbid the job...fortunately it was
"small").
While the statistics are not always available for every site, where it is
provided you can get two key pieces of information: the number of pages on
the site (found by expanding "Site info for...") and sites related to this
one (competitive "suspects"...valuable for comparative analysis).
Apparently, some companies "block" this information. For some reason the
stats don't show up for Netscape (hmmm, shades of Microsoft...except that
Microsoft's stats are available).
