One correction to what Rick writes. He says,
"This was the first in a series of summit meetings focusing exclusively
on particular special interests that will soon to replace the annual
meetings. This Summit was to professionally define the new field of
information architecture."
ASIS is not planning on _replacing_ its annual meeting with a series of
summits. A series of summits will supplement, hopefully complement, our
annual meeting. But the ASIS Annual Meeting will continue to attempt to
represent the broad scope of information science, both theoretical and
applied.
Summit meetings probably WILL REPLACE Mid Year meetings which, in part,
were insufficiently differentiated from the annual meeting, other than in
breadth, to effectively serve the broad range of ASIS interests.
Otherwise, I think this is an excellent and useful report.
